Acting
Dynamics
This class will utilize exercises designed to
help actors stay relaxed and in the moment. By discovering positive energy
within, students will gain confidence in making active and positive choices by
learning to recognize what works for them and why. "Seeing" the
work will lead the actor to focus on trusting their unique acting instincts.
Acting
for Camera *
From master shot to extreme close-up;
from physical action to the re-action, this class will explore the techniques of
active script analysis that make every shot powerful. Video taped scene study
will test the actor’s skill to create strong relationships within the demands
of out of sequence shooting, short scenes and hitting your mark.
Acting Process
[See
also Intro to Acting]
This class emphasizes the foundation of the acting
process necessary for working in all media. Whether it's theatre, film or TV,
the actor must make active, positive choices quickly. The concept of Polar
Action™ helps actors to refine their technique. The class is based mainly upon
an "Adaptive Technique" for working more immediately. Exercises are
designed to make the actor more active and positive in making choices, keeping
the focus on strengthening the actors instincts. With use of the generic scenes,
actors will discover a more truthful impulse emphasizing imagination and
behaving honestly in every moment.
Acting Lab
1 *
This workshop is designed
to enhance the actor's process. Analysis and rehearsal techniques emphasizing
the theory of "Polar Actions" will be discussed and explored using a
variety of exercises. Emphasis includes research, analysis, and early phases of
the rehearsal process. The focus will be on the incorporation of improvisation,
physical destination and actor collaboration. The course embodies rehearsal and
performance synthesis focusing on contemporary American dramatic literature. Students will learn to find
and develop appropriate monologue material suitable for all monologue audition
situations.
Acting
Lab 2 *
By incorporating Objective
Analysis, imaginative consideration of text, research and acting exercises,
the actor will utilize various techniques to explore the physical life of the
character. The goal will be to develop a process for communication, with other
actors, and the director. Improvisational and sensory exploration exercises are
re-introduced into the actors' rehearsal process. A strong emotional commitment
allows for the development of an Inner Technique, creating a more connected and
truthful character.
Acting Lab
3 *
Continued study of the acting process and "Polar Actions".
Emphasis is focused upon actor transformation and character development. The
course will require actors to create an original scene as the basis for
transformation exercises.

Acting
Process: Continuing Study *
This class will utilize the exercises learned in
Intro to Acting and Acting Process to reinforce the discipline necessary to repeat the work.
The "where" and "why" of the circumstances will be more
closely explored. Rehearsal technique and optional work outside of class will allow the actor to build the scenes from week to week.
Continuing Study allows actors to bring their own material to work on as cold
reading or memorized scenes and monologues.
Audition for
Camera
Learn to make strong, active choices and apply them to the
camera. Discover how to use the frame line to your advantage, and why the
reaction shot is so important. The Class will take the actor from the first
audition to the final call back, from the smallest role to the leads.
Audition
Combo *
Applying the principles of sound technique
the student will practice audition skills both on camera and off. [See Cold
